Dress Code

We hope your time spent at Oak Hill is enjoyable. The Club is proud to maintain its reputation as a premier country club in the United States by sustaining its traditions and commitment to excellence for the benefit of its members, their families, guests, and the Greater Rochester Community. A dress code is essential to preserve the tradition of attire relating to golf and social functions at Oak Hill Country Club. All members are expected to adhere to the following dress code. Proper decorum is expected. Members are responsible for their children’s and guest’s adherence to the following dress code.  Enforcement of the dress code be handled by the Traditions Committee. The Board has also given the authority to management to prohibit anyone that is not properly attired from enjoying the Club's facilities.
Our dress code applies to Men, Women, Children over the age of 6 and all Guests.

  • MEN'S ATTIRE
    • Men's Attire

      Clubhouse Lower Level (Fitness Center, Locker Rooms, Golf Shop, Bowling Alley)
      - Golf attire is acceptable at all times in the Clubhouse unless otherwise specified for an event.
      - Dress jeans are allowed year round in the entire lower level (except in the Golf Shop). Must enter through the lower level entrance.
      - Hats and visors are allowed but must be worn with the bill forward facing.

      Clubhouse Middle and Upper Level (Men's Card Room, Harmon Room, Ball Room, Club Room, Oak Room, Trophy Room, Grill Room and Legends Terrace, Presidents Room and League of Iroquois Room)
      - Golf attire is acceptable at all times in the Clubhouse unless otherwise specified for an event.
      - Men’s shirts must have sleeves and collars and must be worn inside one’s trousers unless designed to be worn outside.
      - Men’s slacks or shorts must be of a tailored nature.
      - Outside of the Clubhouse, including the patios, hats and visors are allowed but must be worn with the bill forward facing.
       
      Dress Code Exceptions
      - After 4:00pm during non-golf season, October 16-April 14, dress jeans are allowed in the Grill Room and Legends Terrace on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
      - Dress jeans and athletic wear can be worn from the parking to the locker rooms and locker rooms to parking lot for the purpose of  changing only.
      - During non-golf season, October 16-April 14, dress are permitted in the Golf Shop.

  • WOMEN'S ATTIRE
    • Women's Attire
       
      Clubhouse Lower Level (Fitness, Locker Room, Golf Shop)

      - Golf attire is acceptable at all times in the clubhouse unless otherwise specified for an event.
      - Women’s shirts and blouses must be worn inside slacks or skirts, unless designed to be worn outside.
      - Women may wear hats or visors coordinating with their outfits in the clubhouse.
      - Women’s slacks, shorts or skirts must be of a tailored nature.
      - Skirts or dresses must be mid-thigh or longer.
      - Dress jeans are allowed year round in the ENTIRE lower level (except in the Golf Shop and Ladies' Card Room). Must enter through lower level entrance.

  • GOLF ATTIRE
    • Golf Courses, Golf Shop, Practice Areas and Snack Bars

      Men

      - Long trousers that are neat in appearance.
      - Golf shorts or Bermuda style shorts must be mid-thigh or longer.
      - Collared shirts, short and long sleeve mock turtlenecks shirts that are tucked in are permitted.
      - Shoes must worn at all times and have non penetrating spikes.
      - Hats and visors must be worn with the bill forward facing.

      Women
      - Skirts, shorts, or skorts must be mid-thigh or longer.
      - Sleeveless shirts must have a collar, crew neck or high neck.
      - Shoes must worn at all times and have non penetrating spikes.

      Unacceptable Attire and Practices
      - Cargo pants and shorts (cargo pockets defined as side exterior pockets). Side interior pockets are allowed.
      - Denim shorts or pants (dungarees or blue jeans).
      - Men's shorts shorter than mid-thigh.
      - Un-tucked golf shirts.
      - Tee shirts, tank tops and athletic team jerseys.
      - Fitness attire (jogging suites, gym shorts, hooded sweatshirts, yoga pants).
      - Women's skirts, skorts, or shorts shorter than mid-thigh.
      - Hats or visors not worn with the bill forward facing.
      - Halter, tube, or strapless tops.
      - Changing shoes in the parking lot.

  • NON-GOLF SPORTS ATTIRE
    • Non- Golf Sports & Fitness

      Men’s Attire


      Sports Complex Building (Platform Tennis)
      - Shorts (exercise or Bermuda), athletic type t-shirts, warm-up suits, leggings, caps, hats and visors may be worn in the Sports Complex Building.
      - Proper footwear must be worn (sneakers) for Platform Tennis.


      Pool and Pool Café
      - Swimsuits only are to be worn in the pool.
      - Shorts (exercise or Bermuda), athletic type t-shirts, caps, hats and visors may be worn at the Pool and Pool Café.
      - Clogs, sandals or other types of beach shoes are permitted.


      Tennis
      - Regulation tennis shoes (smooth-soled court shoes) are required.
      - Collared and collarless tennis shirts are allowed along with tennis style athletic shorts.
      - Tennis warm-ups are permitted.


      Fitness
      - Sportswear including exercise shorts, athletic type t-shirts, warm-up suits, and leggings are permitted in the Fitness Center.

      Women’s Attire

  • UNACCEPTABLE ATTIRE
    • Unacceptable Attire
      - Denim fabric any kind, including pants, shirts and jackets unless specified above or for an approved event or on specified days in non golf season
      - Clogs, flip flops or other types of beach shoes, permissible at the pool area.
      - Hats and visors (except as noted above for ladies) in all areas of the clubhouse except the lower level.
      - Cargo pants, shorts, warm-up suits, leggings, jogging, yoga pants and gym attire unless walking directly from the parking lot to the fitness center/ locker rooms using the lower level entrance.
      - Athletic type t-shirts, including team jerseys, permissible in the Fitness Center and Locker Rooms.
      - Apparel containing slogans.
      - Cut-off apparel.
      - Denim that is ripped, frayed or has tears.
